The Call to Creativity
When they say a “starving artist,” what are they starved of? My original understanding of this phrase referred to a commitment to a craft so strong that they would risk their financial security for their art. But what about the artist who starves for their art? The closeted creative who is paralyzed by the perfectionistic mind to the point of never beginning. The artist who yearns for the unborn child within them that they are too afraid to gestate. The artist who declines the creative call so many times that their biology intercepts the spirit to protect their innocence from the inner battle.
The artist that fears the absolute truth that to create is the most natural, necessary point of life. The artist learning to surrender to the innate force of life that is the creative process.
This is an artist learning to become an artist. An artist, allowing the artistry.
To allow artistry is to allow yourself to be the Divine Child, and to parent yourself accordingly. To take full ownership of your genius and give it the best chance of life you can. Could you imagine a generation of children born to parents of that philosophy? Earth guardians of a new soul, devoted to cultivating it’s individual genius. Well, these children are coming.
And us closeted creatives are clearing the path for their brilliance by cultivating it within ourselves. To allow the breath of life to move through without closing to it- to trust the pulse of life that wants to be born. To allow the mess to be made, to trust you are held in the rapture. Angie, these words are for you. These words are by you. See how delicious this is?
