Fall is in full swing, and I refuse to eat/drink/ wear anything that isn’t pie crusted or cinnamon spiced. Swaddled in layers upon layers of fabric, I feel my very best in October. Is it because it’s my birth month? Maybe. Is it because I have been waiting all year for the warm soft food? ABSOLUTELY.

I know many of you are either enjoying or are already sick of pumpkin spiced everything, so I thought I would bring you an alternative seasonal beverage. Featuring October’s often overlooked flavors, my Apple Ginger Sage Spritz celebrates all things autumnal without being pumpkin.

Vibrantly spicy with ginger, dynamically complex with sage, and sweetened by the apple juice, this spritz is the perfect pairing for your Halloween party, or a movie night in. Here’s how to make it:

Note: this drink is non-alcoholic, but a bit of whiskey would make for a killer cocktail!

Ingredients

1 part ginger juice

3 parts apple juice

2 parts sparking water

A few sage leaves

Directions

  1. To a glass or pitcher, add the ginger juice, apple juice, and sparking water. Stir to combine. (As the ginger juice settles, you will need to stir again.)

  2. Rub the sage leaves to release the flavor, add to drink and stir.

  3. Serve over ice, and garnish with more sage if desired
