April Wallpaper of the Month

Wow…March. We as global citizens have been enduring trauma throughout the course of this unprecedented pandemic. We are grieving our ordinary lives and being together, while stewing in anxiety over our jobs, health, and safety. There is no sugar coating that we are in communal suffering.

I had a wallpaper for this month already chosen, and then my plans were swiftly disrupted at the onset of my sister’s contribution to this crisis. My older sister has been living in Italy for a year, and has been in the front lines of this crisis. She sees everyday how the locals are grappling with the crisis, and put her time and talents to design a series of 8x10 posters and iPhone wallpapers for sale on her new Etsy shop, in which all proceeds will be donated to help support local Italians during this time. As a graphic designer, she has branded and developed many design concepts, and this project has a unique ethos. Each design sports the phrase, “andrà tutto bene,” which is a phrase Italians have been saying to during this crisis. It means “everything will be ok.” Her stylistic approach is lighthearted and jovial, with the goal of spreading positivity through design. She is such a good fucking person, and I am so proud to be related to her.

I hope you consider supporting struggling Italians through her passion project. My wallpaper of choice for April is pictured above, a vibrant nod to Henri Matisse.

April is expected to be even harder than March, which is just unfathomable. Taking care of ourselves and others both physically and mentally is more important now than ever, and I hope you have found the things that comfort you. Reading, writing, meditation, virtual happy hours, and walking Reuben have been my lifelines. Take care, stay inside, and I’ll see you back here soon!
